Position Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Hauling Dispatch & Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of dispatching and day-to-day operational functions for Preferred Supply in the Low Country. This position is responsible for managing customer relationships, coordinating with suppliers, managing dispatch, and ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of materials and equipment. The role requires a results-oriented professional with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to drive operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work in a safe manner and comply with Preferred, client, OSHA, and DOT safety requirements.
Serve as a safe and productive member of the Asset Group.
Interact with internal and external customers professionally.
Maintain positive relations and increase business with current customers
Receive trucking requests from customers and make appropriate computer entries.
Schedule and dispatch truck drivers and equipment/materials to appropriate locations according to customer requests.
Move owned equipment between jobs to improve utilization.
Communicate and collaborate with Service Center Supervisor regarding repair priorities, to minimize down time and rentals.
Manage and obtain Federal inspections and oversize load permits.
Maintain monthly mileage data for large trucks.
Ensure Equipment presentation to customers
Be familiar with the Equipment Management components of the company information system including equipment usage, location, maintenance, etc.
Inventory Low Country Operational Center periodically to confirm equipment is accounted for properly.
Handle the ordering and issuance of State blanket permits, IFTA decals, and insurance cards for the fleet as well as maintaining permit books for each truck.
Input of information into appropriate systems for drivers to obtain TWIC, port ids, and access into the ports.
Identify opportunities to build and sell Hauling Services.
Negotiate pricing levels with customers in a way that will encourage business and maintain profitability.
Handle submitting logs to auditing vendor ensuring all e-logs are transmitted.
Assist with DOT compliance for the company.
Performs all assigned tasks, responsibilities, and related work processes in the safest possible manner, always ensuring that a safe, accident/incident-free work environment is maintained for all coworkers, clients, suppliers, etc. at all times.

Class A Truck and Trailer Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
